Lynette's Background and Training
Lynette is a warm, compassionate, down to earth person, and her relational approach to clients and others alike is one of respect, unconditional positive regard, and acceptance. Lynette has been married for 33 years and they have 3 adult daughters. She was born in New Zealand, although she spent 7 years living in Sydney with her family from 1998 till early 2005. This life experience has given her insights which are helpful when working with those who have issues such as grief due to relocation.
While living in Sydney, Lynette completed her counselling qualifications at Graduate Diploma level, graduating from Wesley Institute of Ministry and the Arts in April 2002. Before returning to New Zealand, she chose to do three extra modules at Graduate Diploma level in Trauma, Crisis, and Loss Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP). Lynette does ongoing professional training and development each year and is a full member of NZCCA, which is a Professional Counsellors Association.
In her counselling work with clients, Lynette is also able to draw from the wisdom and valuable insights that she has gained from processing her own experiences of journeying through some difficult and challenging life experiences. These experiences further empower her to help her clients who are experiencing a personal crisis or difficult circumstances.
Her own journey of personal growth and coming into a place of freedom from past issues, her search for new skills and truths for a better life, along with her genuine love for people and her desire for them to have a better life, were all part of the catalyst for her to train to be a qualified and professional counsellor.
